Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
