The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 We therefore rescued him and his entire family. 170 Except an old woman, among those who remained behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 And rained on them a shower (of Stones). How terrible was the rain (that fell) on those who had been warned! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 175
