Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 It has been revealed in plain Arabic. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 who sees thee when thou standest [alone,] 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
