The unbelievers have said, "Shall we and our fathers be brought out of the graves after we become dust? 67 We were promised this, forsooth, we and our fathers. (All) this is naught but fables of the men of old. 68 Say: 'Journey in the land, then behold how was the end of the sinners.' 69 But grieve not over them, nor distress thyself because of their plots. 70 Yet they say: "When will this promise come to pass? (Tell Us) if you speak the truth." 71 Say: "Perhaps some of what you wish to hasten is right behind you." 72 And indeed, your Lord is full of bounty for the people, but most of them do not show gratitude." 73 And indeed your Lord knows what is hidden in their bosoms, and what they disclose. 74 There is not a thing hidden in the heaven and earth except that it is in a Clear Book. 75 BEHOLD, this Qur'an explains to the children of Israel most [of that] whereon they hold divergent views; 76 And truly, it (this Quran) is a guide and a mercy to the believers. 77 Surely your Lord will judge between them by his judgment, and He is the Mighty, the knowing. 78 so put your trust in God. Surely you are on the path of manifest truth. 79 Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear (i.e. benefit them and similarly the disbelievers), nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they flee, turning their backs. 80 Nor canst thou lead the blind out of their error. Thou canst make none hear save these who believe in Our signs and who have submitted themselves. 81 ۞ And when the Word (promise) appears upon them, We shall bring forth for them a beast from the earth to speak to them – because the people were not accepting faith in Our signs. (This beast will rise from the earth, when the Last Day draws near.) 82
