The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim 1 Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested? 2 And certainly We tried those before them, so Allah will certainly know those who are true and He will certainly know the liars. 3 Or do those who do ill-deeds imagine that they can outstrip Us? Evil (for them) is that which they decide. 4 He who hopes to meet God (should know) that God's appointed time will surely come. He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 5 And if any strive (with might and main), they do so for their own souls: for Allah is free of all needs from all creation. 6 And as for those who believe and do good works, We shall remit from them their evil deeds and shall repay them the best that they did. 7 And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. 8 And those who accepted faith and did good deeds – We shall indeed include them among the virtuous. 9 Among people there are some who say: “We believe in Allah.” But when such a person is made to endure suffering in Allah's cause, he reckons the persecution he suffers at the hands of people as though it is a chastisement from Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, the same person will say “We were with you.” Does Allah not know whatever is in the hearts of the people of the world? 10 And indeed Allah will make known the believers, and indeed He will expose the hypocrites. 11 Those who deny the truth say to the faithful, "Follow our way, and we will bear the burden of your sins." But they will bear none of their sins. They are surely lying. 12 And most certainly they shall carry their own burdens, and other burdens with their own burdens, and most certainly they shall be questioned on the resurrection day as to what they forged. 13
