The Parties (Al-Ahzaab)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ O Prophet, fear Allah, and do not obey the unbelievers and the hypocrites. Allah is the Knower, the Wise. 1 And follow what is revealed to thee from thy Lord; surely God is aware of the things you do. 2 Trust in God and be sure that He is a Sufficient Guardian. 3 Allah has not put for any man two hearts inside his body. Neither has He made your wives whom you declare to be like your mothers' backs, your real mothers. [AzZihar is the saying of a husband to his wife, "You are to me like the back of my mother" i.e. You are unlawful for me to approach.], nor has He made your adopted sons your real sons. That is but your saying with your mouths. But Allah says the truth, and He guides to the (Right) Way. 4 Call them by (the names of) their fathers: that is juster in the sight of Allah. But if ye know not their father's (names, call them) your Brothers in faith, or your maulas. But there is no blame on you if ye make a mistake therein: (what counts is) the intention of your hearts: and Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful. 5 The Prophet is closer to the faithful than they are themselves; and his wives are as their mothers. Yet blood relations are closer to one another according to God's decree, more than (other) believers and the emigrants (who left their homes in the cause of God), but you should be kind to your friends. This is inscribed in the Book (of decrees). 6 And when We made a covenant with the prophets and with you, and with Nuh and Ibrahim and Musa and Isa, son of Marium, and We made with them a strong covenant 7 That He may question the truthful about their truth. And He has prepared for the disbelievers a painful punishment. 8
