In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ya Seen. 1 By the wise Qur'an, 2 That you are indeed one of those sent 3 and that you follow the right path. 4 A revelation of the Mighty, the Merciful, 5 [bestowed upon thee] so that thou mayest warn people whose forefathers had not been warned, and who therefore are unaware [of the meaning of right and wrong]. 6 The sentence is surely justified against most of them, for they do not believe. 7 We have enchained their necks up to their chins. Thus, they cannot bend their heads (to find their way). 8 And We have set a wall before them and a wall behind them, and covered the top – so they are unable to see anything. 9 Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not, it is alike for them, for they believe not. 10 You can only warn him who follows the reminder and fears the Beneficent Allah in secret; so announce to him forgiveness and an honorable reward. 11 Surely it is We who bring the dead to life and write down what they have forwarded and what they have left behind; everything We have numbered in a clear register. 12

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
