And a sign for them is the dead land, that We quickened and brought forth from it grain, whereof they eat; 33 And We have placed in it gardens of dates and grapes, and We have made springs of water in it. 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands did not make it; will they not then be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. 37 The sun, too, follows its determined course laid down for it by the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 and [that] We create for them things of a similar kind, on which they may embark [in their travels]; 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 unless it be a mercy from us, and as an enjoyment for a season. 44 Whenever they are told to guard themselves against sin and the forth coming torment so that perhaps they could receive mercy 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 And when it is said to them, 'Expend of that God has provided you,' the unbelievers say to the believers, 'What, shall we feed such a one whom, if God willed, He would feed? You are only in manifest error!' 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 They await not but one shout, which shall lay hold of them while they are yet wrangling. 49 Then they will not be able to make bequest, nor they will return to their family. 50
