Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
