(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 for We saved him and his household from that awesome calamity, 76 And his offspring! them We made the survivors. 77 And left (his name) for posterity. 78 Peace be unto Noah among the peoples! 79 Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 80 for he was truly one of our believing servants: 81 Then We did drown the others. 82 ۞ Abraham was on the self-same way (as Noah). 83 When he came to his Lord with a free heart, 84 "Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? 85 “What! You desire, through fabrication, Gods other than Allah?” 86 What do you think about the Lord of the Universe?" 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars (to deceive them), 88 And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!" 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 Then he turned aside to their gods secretly and said: What! do you not eat? 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 Then he turned upon them, striking them with his right hand, 93 So the disbelievers came running towards him. 94 He answered: "Do you worship something that you [yourselves] have carved, 95 "While Allah has created you and what you make!" 96 They said: Build for him a building and fling him in the red-hotfire. 97 And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost. 98 Abraham said: “I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord! Bestow on me a son who will be of the righteous. 100 Wherefore We gave him the glad tidings of a boy gentle. 101 And when he attained the age of running with him, he said: O my son! verily I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering thee; so look, what considerest thou? He said: O my father! do that which thou art commanded; thou shalt find me, Allah willing, of the patients. 102 And when they had both submitted, and his son had laid down prostrate upon his forehead, 103 We called unto him: O Abraham! 104 You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 105 It was certainly an open trial. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and perpetuated his praise in later generations. 108 'Peace be upon Abraham' 109 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous. 112 and We blessed him and Isaac, and from their offspring are some gooddoers, and others who clearly wronged themselves. 113
