Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 He abandoned his people 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 Did He choose daughters rather than sons? 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Then bring your book, if ye say sooth. 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 Save him who is to burn in hell. 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 will certainly be victorious 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So turn away from them for a while. 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 And turn away from them till a time 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace be on the apostles. 181 And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 182
