۞ And when the example of the son of Maryam is given, your people laugh at it! 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel. 59 And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth.
