۞ And when the son of Mary is quoted as an example, behold! the folk laugh out, 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He is only a servant We blessed, and We made him to be an example to the Children of Israel. 59 And had We willed We could have appointed angels born of you in the earth to succeed each other. 60 Verily he (i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way. 61 Let not Satan bar you; he is for you a manifest foe. 62 When Jesus came with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), he said: I have come unto you with wisdom, and to make plain some of that concerning which ye differ. So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 63 For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship Him: that is a straight path." 64 But the sects from among themselves differed. So woe to those who do wrong (by ascribing things to 'Iesa (Jesus) that are not true) from the torment of a painful Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 65 Are they waiting for the Hour of Doom when the torment will suddenly strike them and they will not even realize from where it came? 66 Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. 67
