And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. 32 And We gave them of the communications wherein was clear blessing. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba' and those before them whom We destroyed? They were surely sinners. 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Indeed the Day of Decision is the appointment for all of them. 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
