Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 And We exalted them over the other people knowingly, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
