Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 Let whoever wishes, turn away from Our Quran. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
