Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the scatterers (the wind) scattering, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 Turned aside therefrom (i.e. from Muhammad SAW and the Quran) is he who is turned aside (by the Decree and Preordainment of Allah). 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
