Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: And (afterward) what is your errand, O ye sent (from Allah)? 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
