The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
