The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount Sinai, 1 and a Book inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 And the House frequented, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
