The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
