The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 By the book inscribed. 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and the sea that is full 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
