The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 By the book inscribed. 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And the swollen sea 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
