Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 He answered: "O my Sustainer! Behold, I fear that they will give me the lie, 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 Send the Israelites with us". 17 (The Pharaoh) said: "Did we not bring you up as a child? And you lived a number of years of your life with us. 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 (Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong, 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And that favour wherewith thou didst oblige me was that thou hadst enslaved the Children of Isra'il? 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 Said Moosa, “Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; if you believe.” 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 The Pharaoh said, "The Messenger who has been sent to you is certainly insane". 27 Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West, and all that lies between them, if only you could understand." 28 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." 29 Said Moosa, “Even if I bring to you something clear?” 30 Pharaoh said: "Then bring it if you are truthful at all." 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
