The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount Sinai, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
