The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and the sea that is full 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
