Therefore remind! by thy Lord's blessing thou art not a soothsayer neither possessed. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe! 33 So let them bring a single discourse like it, if they are truthful. 34 Or, were they created out of nothing? Or, were they their own creators? 35 Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them, so they are burdened with the penalty? 40 Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down? 41 Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.” 44 Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror): 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 And be patient upon your Lord’s command, (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), for you are indeed in Our sight; and proclaim the Purity of your Lord while praising Him, whenever you stand. 48 and also celebrate His praise at night, and at the retreat of the stars. 49
