Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him' 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Do they say, "He has falsely invented it (the Quran)?" In fact, they themselves have no faith. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Quran) if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain! 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Have they a stairway whereby they overhear? Then let their listener bring an authority manifest. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or askest thou a hire from them so that they are with debt laden? 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured. 46 And there surely awaits the evildoers a chastisement beyond even that, but most of them know it not. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 and glorify Him after the setting of the stars. 49
