Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him' 30 Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters." 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe. 33 So let them bring a single discourse like it, if they are truthful. 34 Have they not been created by aught, or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Or do they have a ladder (climbing which) they can hear (the secrets of heaven)? Let one who has heard then bring a clear proof. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask a wage from them (for your preaching of Islamic Monotheism) so that they are burdened with a load of debt? 40 Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs when they shall be struck down, 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
