Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: "[He is but] a poet - let us wait what time will do unto him"? 30 Tell them: “Wait; I too am waiting with you.” 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 Let them bring a discourse like thereunto, if they say sooth. 34 Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather they are not certain. 36 Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord? Or have they been given charge (thereof)? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt? 40 Or do they have knowledge of the Unknown which they write down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 Be patient, then, (O Prophet), until the judgement of your Lord comes. For surely you are before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise, 48 And in the night, give Him glory too, and at the setting of the stars. 49
