The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 two bows' length away, or nearer, 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
