The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed, peace and blessings be upon him, when he returned from the Ascent. 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
