Al-Najm 3 of 3
So did you observe him who turned away? 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 and covered them with torment. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
