Seest thou one who turns back, 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
