The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
