The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Yet, when they see a sign they [who deny the truth] turn their backs and say, "The same old sorcery!" 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
