The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
