[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 They said: 'Are we to follow a mortal who is one of us? Then indeed, we would surely be in error and insane. 24 Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!" 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 We shall send the she-camel to try them. So watch them, and be constant. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lut belied the warnings. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 a blessing from Us; even so We recompense him who is thankful. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
