Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 Tell them that the water is to be apportioned between them (and her); and every turn of drinking will be fixed (for each)." 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us). 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40
