The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man, 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
