The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You will become three categories: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
