The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right. 38
