The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
