The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right. 38
