The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those of the right hand. 38
