The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And shade extended 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
