Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ BLESSED BE HE who holds the (reins of) Kingship in His hand, who has power over everything, 1 He who has created death as well as life, so that He might put you to a test [and thus show] which of you is best in conduct, and [make you realize that] He alone is almighty, truly forgiving. 2 Who hath created seven heavens in harmony. Thou (Muhammad) canst see no fault in the Beneficent One's creation; then look again: Canst thou see any rifts? 3 Look twice (and keep on looking), your eyes will only become dull and tired. 4 We have decked the lowest heavens with torches. With these torches We have stoned the devils and We have prepared for them the torment of hell. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord there awaits the punishment of Gehenna (Hell) an evil arrival! 6 When they are thrown into hell, they will hear its roaring while it boils. 7 nearly bursting apart out of rage. Every time a host is cast therein, its keepers will ask them: 'Did no one come to warn you' 8 They will say, "Of course, a warner did come to us, but we belied him and we said, 'God has revealed nothing; you are in gross error.'" 9 They will say: "If we had listened and been wise, we would not have been among the inmates of Hell." 10 They will confess to their sins, but the dwellers of hell will be far away from God's (mercy). 11 Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen (i.e. they do not see Him, nor His Punishment in the Hereafter, etc.), theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). 12 And whether ye hide your word or publish it, He certainly has (full) knowledge, of the secrets of (all) hearts. 13 Shall He who has created (all things) not know? He is the Subtle, the Aware. 14
