Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HALLOWED be He in whose hand all dominion rests, since He has the power to will anything: 1 He created death and life so that He might test you, and find out which of you is best in conduct. He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving One. 2 Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creations of the Most Beneficent. Then look again: "Can you see any rifts?" 3 Then look again and again. Your gaze will come back to you confused and exhausted. 4 And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze. 5 The chastisement of Hell awaits those who disbelieve in their Lord. What a wretched destination! 6 When they are flung therein they hear its roaring as it boileth up, 7 Almost bursting for fury. Whenever a group is cast into it, its keeper shall ask them: Did there not come to you a warner? 8 They will say: yea! surely there came a warner unto us, but we belied, and said: God hath not sent down aught, we are naught but in a great error. 9 And they will say, “Had we listened or understood, we would not have been among the people of hell.” 10 and thus they will confess their sin; far from God's mercy are the inmates of Hell. 11 Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen (i.e. they do not see Him, nor His Punishment in the Hereafter, etc.), theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). 12 And conceal your word or manifest it; surely He is Cognizant of what is in the hearts. 13 Shall He not know, who created? And He is the All-subtle, the All-aware. 14
