Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
