۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
